Lower Level Redesign of
the Morales Residence

Finally complete!  Visit again soon, because the Morales' were so happy with the lower level that they've now asked Joe Paul Designs to start on the main level.

BEFORE: This represents a typical "finished" basement entertainment center. In Joe Paul's world, this isn't even close to finished!

AFTER: Now, this is finished! As you'll see, the lower level of this house is a significant part of the house. The built-in entertainment center provides this active family with a comfortable place for movie nights.

AFTER: The lower level now includes a beautiful home office, space for the treadmill, a home theater and more!

BEFORE: Here's a view out into the room from a storage area.

AFTER: Can you believe it's the same space? The drop ceiling is gone. This is no longer a basement. It's truly part of the house and reflects the class and good taste you'll see in the rest of the home.

BEFORE: Here's a view from the other end of the "basement".  Suspended ceilings really put the "Ugh!" in ugly.

AFTER: The natural light removes any sense that this is the lowest level of the house. We included a casual dining area for snacks or playing board games with the kids. By the way, their kids' friends love to gather here. Nothing like knowing where your children are and who they're with! This is a great investment in family life.

AFTER: A contemporary version of the family photo gallery highlights the far wall. Kids and adults both enjoy entertaining here.

IN THE PROCESS: The ugly celings are starting to look a lot better. It's not hard to replace those drop ceilings with the real thing and recessed lighting.

AFTER: What can we say? Joe Paul Designs has done it again!

AFTER: A His and Hers office! Great place to manage the family finances or retreat for a quiet talk while the kids are in rooms nearby.

IN PROGRESS: Details like the moldings make all the difference. Looks nice, doesn't it?  Ready for paint.

AFTER: Look how the color of paint we used on the ceiling really sets it off.

Bath area gets ready for fixtures and finishing. Notice the paint swath on the wall for color. It's the only way to know for sure!

AFTER: This is a lower level bath but that doesn't mean it can't be full of luxury!!

AFTER: The color pallete is consistent throughout this lower level makeover. This makes each room flow easily into the other.

AFTER: Comfy furniture is a must! This is a place anyone would want to relax in after work. As you can see, the family has made a wise investment in their home and believe it's well worth it. They will enjoy this with their children for many decades!
